What a great night of study together last night following a great week in the Word, looking at the events that set up the story of Esther. I found myself anxiously anticipating Esther’s arrival on the scene in chapter 2.

One of the things that really stands out to me…this time through the story…is God’s unfailing love. Even though His children refused to “go home” when Cyrus allowed them to return to Jerusalem, God still had a plan to remind them of His great love for them and to protect them from those who plotted to destroy them.

I can hardly wait to see what new insights God is going to reveal to us during our study of this exciting book.

What’s He saying to you?

The buzz in the room was exciting…new faces…familiar faces…”gone for awhile but not forgotten” faces…all smiling and talking excitedly about our new Fall Study – Esther by Beth Moore.

Despite some audio difficulties, we were inspired and challenged by Beth’s introduction.  As with many Beth Moore studies, I believe that we are in for a wild ride.  I haven’t done one of Beth’s studies in a while, so I’m really excited about this one.

Here’s something that really stood out to me from Day Two of our homework:
“The most freeing thing we can ever do is to abdicate the trone of our own miniature kingdoms.  Our status is infinitely higher as a servant in God’s kingdom than a ruler in ours.”

What has spoken to you this week?

What a joy it is to serve with these ladies who love the Lord and love our women!!!  These ladies have planned and prayed for this semester of Bible Study all summer, and we can hardly wait to see what God is going to do.

Please join me in thanking…

Tammy Butler
Shirl Skaggs
Melissa Wardrip
Lois Whiteley
Lisa Winebrenner

Pray for them as they pray for you!!!

For His Renown,

The anticipation in the room was exciting, the “buzz” of conversation was encouraging….another “semester” of Women’s Bible Study at First Baptist Church had begun.

What a great night of introduction to our two studies:  “The Frazzled Female” group is looking forward to discovering the peace that passes all understanding – even in the midst of our hectic, fast-paced life.  The “Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed” group will be looking at the life of David from the perspective of three great Bible teachers.

God continues to show Himself faithful as He meets us in His word and uses it to transform our lives, making us more and more into the image of His Son.

What are you anticipating in this study?

This week’s reading in The Organic God was quite challenging.  Two things really stood out for me.

(1) God’s ways are best.  We need to be willing to wait for Him rather than rushing ahead to what we want – or think we want.  Isaiah 60:16-17 … Then you will know  that I, the LORD, am your Savior, your Redeemer,  the Mighty One of Jacob.  Instead of bronze I will bring you gold

(2)  God often whispers.  When someone yells, you can hear them from across a room (or even across a football field).  On the other hand, if someone whispers, you have to be close to them to hear them.  That’s the way God speaks to us…so we’ll draw near to Him.  After all, that’s why He made us.

What a great challenge from Angela Thomas last night….to make our homes a clean place…spiritually.  To make them a safe place for our children…a place where the Holy Spirit is evident.  What a great challenge to us as we look at our new studies beginning April 6.

Margaret Feinberg poses that question at the end of Chapter 3 in The Organic God.  My first thought was “everything.”  Then I realized that a response like  that was too “easy.”  What do I love about Jesus?  …His compassion for those who need His love…and His straight-talk to those who “should know better.”  I love the way He physically touched people – I’m a touchy-feely kind of person, so I really like that about my Jesus.  One of my favorite things about Jesus is that He gives us second chances.  Even after Peter denied Jesus three time, Jesus still reached out to him and gave Peter the opportunity to profess his love for Christ, not once but three times.

How about you?  What do you love about Jesus?

This past weekend a sat in my home office feed old papers and receipts through my new shredder.  Why?  Because I don’t want someone to steal my identity.  It’s not good enough to just toss those papers in the garbage.  Someone might decide to go dumpster diving and get information about me that they could use to hurt me.

As I read Colossians 3 this morning, I remembered my shredding this weekend.  Paul says to “put to death” whatever belongs to the sinful nature.  He didn’t say “run away from…” or “stay away from…” or even “reject.”  He said to KILL those things.  Why?  So that Satan can’t go dumpster diving and use them to hurt us.

In Christ we are new creations and, as Priscilla said last night, daughters of the king.  Let’s go beyond….with Him!!!

A was utterly amazed when I read the intro to this week’s study.  Priscilla talked about her grandparents who live in a “rough” area of Baltimore.  I just “happen” to be making a mission trip to Baltimore this summer along with two or our other ladies.  Some of our friends have expressed concern for our safety on the trip.  As I was reading Priscilla’s description of her grandparents peace in staying where they are and their protection given by our Father, I know how to answer my concerned friend.  “Pray a hedge of protection around us.!”  God is good!!!!
